Medical br Examinations
In addition to our training programs, we offer different medical examinations. You can book these assessments individually or combine them with your ongoing training at the academy.
Chester Step Test
CST
The Chester Step Test is a specialized and safe medical fitness test designed to assess aerobic capacity and exercise tolerance in manual workers, including offshore and wind energy sector personnel. The test combines a simple form of exertion with precise heart rate monitoring, focusing on evaluating the efficiency of the cardiovascular and respiratory systems, as well as the body's ability to cope with physical load in accordance with international occupational health standards.
Participants perform controlled stepping up and down on a step of a specific height (depending on the patient's age and fitness level) to a rhythm set by an acoustic signal (a metronome). The procedure involves a progressive increase in pace every two minutes, while continuously monitoring heart rate and perceived exertion levels, allowing for an accurate determination of aerobic capacity without the need to push the body to extreme exhaustion.
The test is conducted by qualified medical personnel, ensuring that workers meet the rigorous fitness criteria required for operations in difficult working conditions, such as climbing wind turbine tower ladders or participating in marine rescue operations. To undergo the test, the patient should have comfortable sportswear, and the result obtained constitutes a key element of the medical certificate stating the absence of health contraindications to perform demanding manual work.
OEUK Medical Examination
Oil & Gas UK Medical
The OEUK medical examination is a specialized medical procedure designed to assess the health status and preparation of workers to safely perform their duties in the demanding offshore environment. The examination combines a detailed medical history with a series of specialized diagnostic tests, focusing on body capacity, physical fitness, and the ability to function safely under marine isolation conditions in accordance with international health standards.
Participants undergo a comprehensive health verification, including assessments of the cardiovascular system, respiratory system, vision, and hearing, as well as laboratory tests and a general physical examination. The procedure covers advanced analyses such as audiometry, spirometry, urinalysis, and an evaluation regarding the absence of contraindications to participate in marine evacuation operations and work in confined spaces, while maintaining strict criteria for admission to work.
The examination is conducted by a certified medical examiner in accordance with OEUK (currently Offshore Energies UK) standards, which ensures that offshore sector workers possess the appropriate physical health required to safely respond in emergency situations at sea. To undergo the examination, the patient must present an identity document and any medical documentation regarding chronic diseases, and the obtained health certificate remains valid for a period of 24 months.
