Global Wind Service Opens Training Academy in Poland

We are pleased to announce that Global Wind Service (GWS) has opened a Training Academy in Poland to further develop and strengthen our employees’ competences.

The Training Academy is based in Poland where different trainings will be conducted. However, the facilities in Poland are meant as a base, as the vision, going forward, is to be able to conduct the trainings on site, where the technicians are via mobile set-ups. The vision is based on the perception that being close to or in the actual environment gives a more safe and realistic training.  At the same time, it brings down the time spend on the training, reduces travel time, and help reduce GWS’ carbon footprint.

People focus is a cornerstone of the GWS strategy. An important part of this people focus is the continued development of our employees, something which can now be offered via the academy.

The wind turbine installation market is rapidly growing and so is the need for more skilled technicians. As such, there is a joint responsibility within the industry, to help maintain and increase the pool of competent technicians. This is done by keeping the existing workforce well trained by also bringing in inexperienced women and men, who would like to pursue a career in wind.

“At GWS our product is the safe, high-quality and efficient installation and maintenance of wind turbines globally. A perquisite to successful operations on site is to ensure the right skills and mindset of our employees. With GWS Academy we take full responsibility for thisBy providing the training inhouse to both green and more experienced technicians, we have a better possibility to provide development and quickly get to know the individuals. We ensure they have the right skills, competences but also the GWS DNA – to continuously provide the high safety and quality of work that we have become known for” said Henrik Jensen, Chief Operating Officer at Global Wind Service.

Currently, the trainings available via the Academy are the four GWO Basic Safety Trainings; First Aid, Manual Handling, Fire awareness & Working at Heights together with a specially GWS developed blade training. However, the ambition of GWS Academy moving forward is to deliver GWO Blade Repair as well as GWO BTT.
