Training content overview 

The GWO Blade Repair training equips participants with comprehensive knowledge and skills in composite inspection and repair work, enabling them to provide self-care and support within the wind industry. Participants can safely handle composite materials, conduct inspections and execute basic blade repair procedures. This proficiency enhances overall safety for personnel engaged in job functions focused on composite blade repair work. 

Completing the training ensures that participants can skillfully conduct and document wind turbine blade inspections. Technicians will execute repair work in adherence to work instructions, preserving aerodynamic profiles and structural integrity in glass fiber-reinforced composite of wind turbine blades, covering: 

  • laminating repairs, including leading edge and trailing edge repairs, affecting a maximum amount of five layers and a maximum repair area size of 500cm²;
  • core material replacement up to 200cm²; 
  • surface repair to paint and gelcoat.

Training content overview 

The Spot Paint Training provides participants with extensive knowledge and skills in spot painting on metal and composites, empowering them to ensure self-care and support within the wind industry. Participants will proficiently manage spot painting procedures, enhancing overall safety for personnel engaged in job functions focused on spot painting in metal and composite applications 

Completing the Spot Paint Training ensures participants can skillfully perform and document spot paint applications on metal and composites. Technicians will execute spot paint repairs in adherence to work instructions and checklists, preserving the structural integrity and appearance of metal and composite surfaces, covering: 

  • Understanding Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and Technical Data Sheets (TDS);
  • Understanding personal safety protocols when working with epoxy resins and isocyanates;
  • Demonstrating safe handling of primer, epoxy resins, and isocyanides;
  • Assessing damage levels accurately;
  • Safely mixing and handling 2-component materials;
  • Using proper personal protective equipment (PPE);
  • Effectively cleaning surfaces;
  • Applying primer and paint to steel or composite surfaces; 
  • Testing coatings using a microns gauge;
  • Correctly using a sander and grinder;
  • Utilizing hygrometers, thermometers, model 319 T dew point, IR thermometers,  wet and dry film thickness gauges;
  • Executing repairs following relevant Work Instructions (WI); 
  • Documenting repairs using tools like photo cards and checklists (CH);
  • Performing correct paint repairs during practical exercises.

Extra training content 

In addition to metal applications, our training extends to cover spot paint repairs on polymer composites surface, including blade, nacelle, and other components of wind turbines. Participants will gain hands-on experience in repairing composite materials, encompassing filler, paint or gel coat applications, to further enhance their skill set and versatility in the field

The practical part of the course covers: 

  • Lifesaving First Aid using primary survey and the First Aid structure; 
  • Providing First Aid to relevant incidents in the wind industry; 
  • Scenario-based training.

  • Hands-on experience with fire extinguishers; 
  • Extinguishing fires using various types of extinguishing agents; 
  • Evacuation from a smoke-filled room simulating a fire.

The module's goal is to teach the delegates how to provide ongoing care to an ill or injured individuals, while awaiting professional emergency rescue teams.

  • CPR with AED usage;

Target group 

Individuals who are required to use ActSafe ACX Power Ascenders for lifting goods and personnel operations. 

Training content overview 

After finishing this course, participants will be able to: 

  • Describe and implement the general safety guidelines when working with ActSafe Power Ascenders; 
  • Describe and implement the basic requirements for equipment lifting;
  • Describe the risks of working with Li-ion batteries and how to take care of them;
  • Tell what ropes must be used when working with ActSafe Power Ascenders;
  • Describe all the ascender’s parts and controls and their functions;
  • Assess when ActSafe Power Ascenders must not be used. 
  • Demonstrate a pre use check of the ascender;
  • Demonstrate how to feed the rope correctly into the ascender;
  • Demonstrate the safe and correct use of backup devices used when working with ACX ascenders; 
  • Demonstrate the 4 lifting setups for both personnel- and equipment lifting and how to change between them while maintaining 100% tie-off;
  • Demonstrate emergency and rescue procedures.

Participants' prerequisites: 

  • 18 years old; 
  • Working at heights certificate;
  • Rope Access certificate and level of experience.

Beneficial: 

  • Slinging/rigging qualifications or Slinger Signaller certificate

Target group 

Individuals who enter low-risk confined spaces up to 2-3 meters deep and require constant attachment to a safety line. 

Training content overview 

The training provides essential knowledge for safe confined space work, covering legal aspects, identification and classification of confined spaces, risk mitigation, work permits, ventilation, atmospheric testing, teamwork, communication strategies, use of vertical access equipment, and emergency response procedures. 

* Lunch is included, along with unlimited coffee and snacks. 

* The price does not include hotel, but we can assist in arranging it

Course validity: 3 years 

Target group 

Individuals required to enter confined spaces classified as low, medium, or high risk, including non-standard, non-routine entries where there's a high likelihood of serious hazards. The training is especially relevant for workers who need to protect their respiratory pathways using breathing apparatus in these environments. 

Training content overview 

The training provides an in-depth understanding of confined space work, covering legal aspects, definitions and classifications, common hazards and safe working conditions including work permits, ventilation, and atmospheric testing. It emphasizes teamwork, qualified personnel and effective communication strategies. Participants learn about vertical access equipment usage, emergency response in confined spaces, types and usage of escape breathing apparatus, emergency procedures and the use of breathing apparatus including pre-use checks, donning, fit testing and calculating work duration. 

* Lunch is included, along with unlimited coffee and snacks.
